Justice Kankani Tantri Chitrasiri is a Justice of the Court of Appeal of Sri Lanka and is best known for his pioneering role in the development of ICT law in Sri Lanka. In a landmark ruling in 2008, he made order to accept short messages (SMS) as evidence in Court proceedings.

More recently, the Justice presented a paper on Smuggling and Trafficking of Human Beings at a seminar for judicial officers organised by the Australian High Commission in Sri Lanka in 2012. The topic he has chosen to speak about during his evening with Deakin Law School is Towards the well-being of the child through The Hague Child Abduction and Protection of Children Conventions and the recovery of maintenance of children in Asia-Pacific region.
