During the launch, Justice Priyasath Dep will discuss the 'Sri Lankan Legal Profession and Judiciary – Past, Present and Future', and you will also hear from Katie Miller from the Victorian Government Solicitor’s Office.
Judge of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, Justice Priyasath Dep has a wealth of knowledge in the Sri Lankan judicial system. After spending over 33 years in the Attorney-General's Department, acting as the Attorney General on numerous occasions and holding positions such as head of both civil and criminal divisions, Justice Dep has personally seen a developing Sri Lanka.
Aided by his degrees at both the University of Colombo and at the International Institute of Social Studies in the Netherlands, Justice Dep is an expert on constitution making in Sri Lanka and will share great insight on its transition from a crown colony to a republic.
