Deakin Law Students compete on an international stage

DLS students Nicholas Brewer and Beth Stewart have recently returned from the Herbert Smith Freehills International Negotiation Competition, held at the National Law University in New Delhi, India. Nick and Beth represented Deakin amongst top universities from around the world.

The invite-only competition was established in 2014 to bring together students from around the world to participate in international negotiations, to provide valuable real-world experience and international networking opportunities.  

 

Deakin Law School Alumni appointed to the Victorian Magistrates Court

DLS Alumni Simon Zebrowski was appointed to the Victorian Magistrates Court by Attorney-General Martin Pakula. Simon was an early graduate of DLS completing his degree in 1998.

 

Brexit and its Legal Consequences

DLS had the pleasure and honour of being visited by The Honourable Mrs Justice Andrews of the Queens Bench, High Court of Justice of England and Wales to deliver a presentation on ‘Brexit and its Legal Consequences’. Her Honour dazzled the audience with her wit, knowledge and intelligence whilst she spoke of how Brexit will create many complex challenges for the courts, most notably in the area of private arbitration and the enforceability of foreign judgments.
