About the speaker

Zoë Robinson is a Professor of Law, with tenure, at DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, IL, USA, as well as a Professorial Research Fellow at Deakin University School of Law, and a Visiting Professor of Political Science at the School of Politics and International Relations, Australian National University. Professor Robinson’s research focuses on American constitutional law, constitutional rights (specifically relating to religion and race), and judicial behaviour.

Her articles have been published with leading U.S. journals including the Cornell Law Review, the George Washington Law Review, the Boston College Law Review, and the Alabama Law Review. Her most recent book (with Micah Schwartzman and Chad Flanders), The Rise of Corporate Religious Liberty, was published with Oxford University Press. Her scholarship has been cited by the New York Times, the New Yorker, the Washington Post, and Slate, amongst others. Prior to academia, Professor Robinson was a law clerk (associate) for Chief Judge Diane P. Wood, of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in Chicago, and an associate for Justice Margaret A. Stone in the Federal Court of Australia in Sydney. She has also worked as a researcher and adjunct lecturer at the Australian National University.

Professor Robinson holds a Bachelor of Music (Performance) from the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University; a Bachelor of Arts from the Australian National University; a Bachelor of Laws with first class honours from the Australian National University, where she was awarded the University Medal in Law; a Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago, where she graduated with high honours and was elected into the Order of the Coif; and a Doctor of Juridical Science from the University of Chicago.
