Witness Under Fire

Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes during a witness examination? Have your day in court at Deakin’s Open Day.

A witness examination can be intimidating, exhilarating and raw.

Whether in a criminal or civil trial, it’s often the courtroom feature that relies on quick thinking, in-depth knowledge and the ability to make a case in a clear and convincing fashion.

If you’ve ever wondered what really goes on behind the scenes in a witness examination, Deakin Law School (DLS) offers you a fascinating insight at its mock trial presentation Witness Under Fire to be held at Deakin Burwood’s Open Day on 25 August.

Presented as a realistic courtroom dramatisation, this interactive ‘mock trial’ allows you to explore a range of witness examinations and objections with DLS academic and teaching staff cast in the roles of judge, witness, prosecution and defence.

During the presentation, the court will take short adjournments giving you the opportunity to identify the skills and strategies being played out which will then be explained by the DLS ‘judge’.

Witness Under Fire is the perfect opportunity for you to have your unleash your inner attorney and discover how facts are ascertained and inconsistencies highlighted in DLS’s Open Day courtroom drama.
