Contemporary developments in the area of corporate law and corporate governance

Join Professor Jean du Plessis from the Deakin Law School and Professor Michael Adams, Head, University of New England Law School, for a lunchtime seminar on recent legal developments in the area of corporate governance

The impact of technology on corporate governance and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) will be discussed, specifically with reference to contemporary challenges associated with information governance and the impact of social media to challenge CSR statements.

Can directors and managers be held liable for incorrect or misleading information regarding CSR? Another focus of the seminar will what should nowadays be understood under “the purpose of for-profit corporations”. The very important legal duty of directors “to act in the best interest of the corporation” will also be revisited.
